After years of silence, the team at Moonray Studios has decided to relaunch their underwater multiplayer shooter with a F2P formula in Tidal Shock: Off The Hook!

Tidal Shock is the aquatic-themed multiplayer game from the indie Canadian team at Moonray Studios. It’s the team’s second project after their 2017 marine-themed game, Debris.

Released in 2020, Tidal Shock initially offered PvP for 2 to 8 players. The game is played from a third-person perspective, with 360° movement, 7 weapon classes, and multiple arenas to showcase our skills and abilities.

After a silence lasting over 4 years, the team at Moonray Studios has decided to relaunch Tidal Shock as a Free-to-Play game. Starting from March 5th, 2025, the game has been renamed Tidal Shock: Off The Hook on Steam.

Bringing many new additions to the title, with a graphical overhaul, new game modes, a matchmaking system, as well as skins, customizations, and new achievements to unlock. Accompanied by the gameplay trailer, which shows the game in action, including weapon battles, 360° movement, and even torpedoes!

Tidal Shock: Off The Hook – Gameplay and Main Features

As mentioned earlier, this new version marks a true relaunch for Tidal Shock. The F2P version includes:

• Multiplayer: Matches for 2 to 12 players across various underwater arenas
• Weapons: 7 weapon classes including pistols, underwater rifles, sniper rifles, automatic weapons, and more! With 5 rarity levels.
• Movement and Abilities: 360° underwater movement. Featuring various skills such as dodges, walls, and even riding torpedoes for high-speed maneuvers!
• Game Modes: 4 game modes including Reactor Rush, Control, Point2Point, and Deathmatch O₂.
• Matchmaking: An online leaderboard with matchmaking to prove who the true king of the ocean is.

With the relaunch, the team also confirms the approach of version 1.0 of the game, marking its official exit from Early Access. The confirmation of weekly themed events and the launch of version 1.0 is expected for April 10th. Additionally, the game’s roadmap is available on the official website.
