NHN hands out massive farewell bundles as Darkest Days sets server shutdown in November

Another free-to-play multiplayer title is tragically heading for the graveyard as NHN announces the impending server shutdown for Darkest Days. Despite only being on the market for over a year, the game will officially close its doors this November. However, the development team is offering players a generous farewell package of in-game gifts to enjoy one last hurrah before the servers go dark.

Darkest Days Server Shutdown Set for November

NHN has officially announced that Darkest Days will cease all in-game purchases on October 21, 2026 at 5AM UTC. Following this, the game will completely shut down its servers on November 24, 2026 at 5AM UTC. Any outstanding purchases including active memberships, will remain fully functional until the server closure date. Finally, by December 24, 2026, all official community channels will begin to close, marking the true end of the game’s lifecycle.

It is unfortunate to see Darkest Days reach this point just over a year after its launch on April 24, 2025. The multiplayer survival game entered a particularly challenging genre where standing out among established competitors is not easy.

Unfortunately, the game also struggled to make the right impression both critically and commercially. Among the complaints raised by players were its graphics with some saying that the visuals made it look more like a mobile game ported to Steam than a PC-focused release. Its gameplay and mechanics also attracted criticism making it difficult for the game to establish the strong following needed to sustain its long-term future.

Overall, Darkest Days did not appear destined to become a genre classic, to put it mildly. Nevertheless, a game’s closure is always sad news because in the end, it’s still a product of someone’s time and skills.

The time you have spent with us and the valuable feedback you have shared throughout this journey have meant a great deal to us. The DARKEST DAYS Team will always cherish the love and support you have shown us.

During the remaining service period, we will do our utmost to provide the necessary information and support to minimize any inconvenience to our Survivors.

■ End of Product Sales and Payment Services (Scheduled Maintenance)
– October 21, 2026 (Wednesday), 05:00 (UTC)
※ After the scheduled maintenance, purchases will no longer be available through the in-game shop.
※ Previously purchased time-limited benefits, including memberships, will remain active until the service termination date.

■ Service Closure and Game Download Discontinuation
– November 24, 2026 (Tuesday), 05:00 (UTC)
※ After this date, the DARKEST DAYS will no longer be available for download and players will no longer be able to access the game.
※ Seasonal content and ongoing events will remain accessible as normal until the service termination date.

■ Official Community Closure
– After December 24, 2026 (Thursday), 05:00 (UTC)
※ Official community channels will be closed gradually after this date.
※ Please make sure to save any information or materials you wish to keep before the community channels are closed.

■ Data Retention
– Following the service termination, in-game account information and all user data (including characters, items, purchase history, etc) will be retained for a certain period in accordance with applicable laws and regulations before being deleted.

Before the final shutdown date arrives, NHN is gifting players a massive bundle of items as a thank-you for the support they received. All Survivors will receive 5,000 Red Diamonds, 10,000 Trinity Coins, 1,000,000 Milla, 1,000 ER, an unreleased CS-23 Weapon Skin, and an unreleased Judge 922 Weapon Skin.
