Borderlands 4 Patch Delayed, Now Launching With Horrors of Kairos Event

Gearbox has announced a delay to its highly anticipated and long-awaited patch for Borderlands 4. The “Day 30 Update” will now roll out alongside the upcoming Horrors of Kairos mini-event, which is scheduled to begin on October 23.

Originally due to launch last week, the Borderlands 4 “Day 30 Update” was supposed to apply some fixes to the looter shooter’s performance issues, weapon balance, and introduce quality-of-life improvements. Unfortunately, players have to wait until the launch of the Horrors of Kairos event.

The Horrors of Kairos is a limited-time Halloween event running from October 23 to November 6. The patch is expected to be released sometime during this period.

Why the Borderlands 4 Patch Was Delayed

Gearbox is focused on maintaining the balance in Borderlands 4, as this is crucial for the game’s long-term success. Last week’s update aimed to adjust the balance of weapons and perks, along with implementing various performance and stability fixes.

However, the release of the patch was delayed because the developer stated it required “extra days to ensure a great experience.” Fans believed the patch would roll out earlier this week, but in another update on X, Gearbox says it will now launch “with the Horros of Kairos mini-event” as a few things still require “tidying up.”

What’s Coming In the Patch

Gearbox told fans in an earlier statement that the upcoming balance tweaks will focus on “Class Mods, Repkits, Shields, and Firmware being tuned to provide greater viability for melee builds, and account for deficiencies in other specific Vault Hunter builds.” The developer wants to reduce the impact of what it calls “overperforming gear.”
