The Witcher 4 Targets 2028 Release Window
With Gamescom 2026 Opening Night Live just hours away, fans are excited to see the future of The Witcher franchise. While players are waiting for the gameplay debut of the Witcher 3 expansion, Songs of the Past, CD Projekt Red has taken a moment to look even further ahead.
In a brand-new video address, joint CEO Michał Nowakowski outlined the studio’s grand vision for The Witcher 4, officially confirming that the team is targeting a 2028 release window. The game is now officially in full production with a development team of over 500 people currently bringing the new saga to life.
To our beloved fans, players, and community:
As we near #gamescom in just a few days, CD PROJEKT RED Joint-CEO Michał Nowakowski would like to personally invite YOU to join us there, and hear about the future of The Witcher franchise! pic.twitter.com/Jyam30SrQH

Nowakowski reaffirmed that this next chapter will see Ciri taking the helm as the central protagonist. Promising an experience that pushes the boundaries of modern RPGs, Nowakowski stated, “The Witcher 4 features a huge and immersive open world, intense and action-packed gameplay, and a deep, impactful story that we hope will stay with you for a long time”.
He didn’t hold back on setting expectations for the project’s scale too, describing it as the studio’s “biggest, boldest, and most ambitious game to date”. While a 2028 target gives fans a timeframe to look forward to, Nowakowski was quick to confirm that The Witcher 4 will skip Gamescom ONL.
With the game still a couple of years away, the studio is choosing to keep its cards close to the chest which is understandable with the release still potentially two years away. Plus, fans will have The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past to look forward to during the event. The DLC is scheduled to launch in 2027, so giving it the spotlight at Gamescom makes considerably more sense.

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
