Sony Interactive Entertainment is pivoting its software strategy, moving away from the broad multi-platform accessibility that defined its recent years. CEO Hermen Hulst has confirmed an earlier report that first-party, narrative-driven single-player games will no longer launch on PC.
- Sony is reportedly halting PC ports of first-party single-player narrative games to prioritize PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro console sales.
- Live-service and multiplayer titles like Helldivers 2 will remain the exception, continuing to launch across multiple platforms.
- Future flagship titles such as Ghost of Yotei and Marvel’s Wolverine are now expected to remain permanent PlayStation exclusives.
PlayStation will no longer release its first-party single-player games on PC. However, its live-service games will continue to see multi-platform launches.
That’s according to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, who confirmed the news on Bluesky after, adding that Hulst held a “town hall” on Monday to tell staff that single-player narrative experiences will now remain PlayStation exclusives.

Why is Sony stopping PlayStation narrative ports to PC?
Sony is restricting single-player narrative ports to PC to drive adoption of the PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro by ensuring its most acclaimed experiences remain “Only on PlayStation.”
While live service games require massive player bases across all platforms to thrive, single-player blockbusters serve as the primary incentive for consumers to purchase dedicated console hardware.
By maintaining exclusivity for narrative titles, Sony is hoping to maximize the lifetime value of its users within the PlayStation Network.
How does the PS5 Pro factor into this strategy?
The PS5 Pro serves as the technological anchor for this exclusivity pivot, providing a premium hardware target that PC ports often struggle to replicate without significant optimization costs.
Sony is positioning the mid-generation refresh as the “definitive” way to experience high-fidelity narrative games, utilizing it to bridge the gap between console convenience and high-end PC performance.
By keeping flagship titles like Ghost of Yotei and Marvel’s Wolverine off PC, Sony is maximizing the potential of keeping its fans and future players in the PlayStation ecosystem, while ensuring it retains 100% of the revenue generated.
Is the era of PlayStation on PC officially over?
The era of PlayStation on PC is not over, but it has been fundamentally redefined to exclude the brand’s most iconic single-player experiences.
For those invested in the narrative prestige of PlayStation Studios, the console is once again a mandatory requirement rather than an optional choice.

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
